Perpetual Calendar Moon Phase
The Perpetual Calendar movement indicates the day, month and date with allowance for leap-years. The wheel which actuates the major hand therefore takes four years to complete a full turn! Designed to go down the ages, the Perpetual Calendar will show the precise date until 2100 which will exceptionally not be a leap year because of a rule of the Gregorian calendar (1582); in that year, February will have just 28 days. The owner of the watch will then need to retard the date manually by one day.
